Kanome Con 2025
Site under construction!
Welcome to the homepage for Kanome Con, an anime convention in Ocean Shores, Washington state! Stay tuned for more info, it's gonna be a blast! Note that you currently cannot buy tickets and the convention is not confirmed as happening, as we are waiting to confirm all permits and contracts required as well as compliance with all laws.
Activities & Amenities
We heavily advise that you ensure your cosplay is exercise-friendly, and that you pack swimmable clothing! We have planned this event for the time of year with the least amount of rain, but we can not guarentee that it will be warm and sunny.
The convention will have:
✔ Walking distance from the bus stop, beach, downtown & e-bike rental.
✔ Campground-style BBQ Pits. Note that as our convention is in summer, there may be a county-wide burn ban in place when it occurs, rendering the BBQ pits unusable.
✔ Phe venue allows dogs and cats. All dogs MUST be on leashes when outdoors (excluding the dog park or designated off-leash area on the beach), as per Ocean Shores laws.
✔ 2 pools: 1 steamy heated indoor pool, 1 outdoor pool. It is your responsibility to provide your own floaties or life jackets if you need them, and your responsibility to supervise your children in the pool.
✔ Mini arcade:.br>
✔ 2 meeting rooms used for vending and/or panels .
✔ 2 cosplay contests: 1 for normal cosplays, 1 for exercise or swimmable cosplays.
Depending on what we can get the funds and permission to do, we may include more activities or amenities.
Our advice:
1) Avoid metal on your costume and props, as things rust very quickly by the coast. You may get rust in less than a week.
2) Avoid using real leather, as you may get mold within 3 days.
3) If the hotel has no rooms available online, call and see if there are rooms available that can't be gotten through the online site.
4) Book your hotel room as far in advance as possible. In summer, hotels can be booked up 2 to 6 months in advance. Stay quiet at night, clean up your own room, do your own dishes and check out on time to avoid hotel fees.
5) Plan for both sunny beach weather and for rain.
6) Buy food at Liquidation Outlet #1 (the one with the fruits and vegetables on Google Maps). It's a few blocks down from the venue.
Rules
By attending this anime convention, vending at it, volunteering at it, purchasing and/or using a ticket for it, you agree to the following rules and contract:
1. The anime convention Kanome Con and its venue contains pools, balconies, and other items which could potentially be dangerous to an unattended child, an inebriated ("drunk") adult, your velvet costume, et cetera. The organizers of Kanome Con are not to be held liable for any emotional, physical or monetary damages related to the convention or its venue.
2. As per Washington state laws, smoking is not allowed within 25 feet of entrances, open windows or ventilation. Please additionally keep in mind that some people are allergic or asthmatic to smoke.
3. You may be charged a fine for missing, damaged or ruined items, or for rooms left in conditions that require extra time or extra housekeepers to clean up. Charges begin at around $25 for a missing or ruined key, towel or pillow.
4. Tickets, donations, fees, et cetera are non-refundable, except in the circumstance of the entire convention getting cancelled. In that case all tickets will be refunded.
5. Weapon Props: In 2024 Washington State is in the middle of revising the laws regarding "weapons apparently capable of producing bodily harm". Currently the law is that while you can carry an item capable of cutting, stabbing or beating someone (example: batons, swords), it is illegal to brandish or use them in any menacing way or in any way that could risk actually harm someone (so, no sword fights with real swords). We don't know what the law will be like in 2025. It is heavily advised that you use foam props or another material which is not physically capable of harming someone. If you do bring a prop that is capable of harm in some way, do not let other people hold it - you are responsible if an injury occurs.
5: For vendors: It is your responsibility to double check and obtain any licenses or permits required. You must check Washington state, Grays Harbor County, and Ocean Shores City permits and licensing rules relevant to your business. The venue does not have permission to sell hot food on grounds. If you are interested in selling hot food or other items requiring additional permissions, conditions or setup requirements, you may instead be able to partner with a local shop, restaurant or food stand and make it easier on yourself by hosting your items there instead.
